​Early voting in Virginia begins today! As a way of celebrating, I wanted to share some information on how you can vote early.

Before we get into the details of voting early, make sure that all your voter registration information is correct. You can click here to check your registration status, make sure all your information is current, find your polling place, or register to vote. It only takes a few minutes, so make sure to review your registration information now.

Now that you’ve double-checked to make sure your voter information is up-to-date, let’s talk early voting! Remember, all registered voters in Virginia can now vote early, no excuse required. We have a couple of different ways to vote early. You can vote at your local voter registration office or satellite location between today and October 31st. Click here to find information on your local voter registration office. Another option is to request an absentee ballot using this link. Once you’ve received and filled out your ballot, you can:

• return it by mail, as long as it is postmarked on or before November 3rd and received by noon on Friday, November 6th;
• return it to your local voter registration office or drop-off location;
• return it to your polling place on Election Day.

You only have until October 13th to register to vote or update your address (this impacts your polling location!) for this election, so make sure to register sooner rather than later. Here are a couple of other deadlines to remember:

• you have until 5PM on October 23rd to request an absentee ballot;
• October 31st is the last day to vote early at your local registration office;
• November 3rd is Election Day.

It is so important to vote in this November’s election and it’s equally important to do so safely. By voting early, we can avoid long lines at polling places on Election Day.
