Today was a big in Richmond as we celebrated all that is great about democracy.
Congratulations to Governor Glenn Youngkin, Lt. Governor Winsome Sears, and Attorney General Jason Miyares on your successful inauguration on an absolutely perfect day. I am looking forward to the good things you will do for Virginia.
In the coming days we will debate and vote on who we want to be as Virginians. Voting is always a forward-looking act. A little prayer for the future. And so my prayer is for the success of the incoming Governor and his cabinet. Because from today forward, their success is all of ours.
When it comes time, we will almost assuredly disagree. And when we do, I promise that I will stay true to the values I hold most dear. That everyone deserves a just, equitable, and more Virginia to live in. I will stand firm to protect those most in need and try in all ways that I can to be a voice for those without. We cannot go backwards by tearing down the last two years of progress that we have made. I won’t allow that.
Until then, congratulations again to Governor Youngkin. Today was a beautiful day.
Now, Let’s get to work.
Mike
